Email: Feedback is always welcome, leighchristine@hotmail.com He is blank as a chalkboard on the last day of school as he takes the note from Samantha's picture. Mulder can't help but stare at it while folding the note into his pocket. The imp - - what he'd give to see that grin again. She shouldn't do this unless it's dire and he doesn't see that whatever this is could possibly be. He should have said something to her in the hallway, but their encounter had been over before he'd realized she'd spoken to him. Damn it. He would have to risk meeting her now. He's pissed at her for this, but won't consider not going. He has acknowledged that she's on his side. He can't pinpoint the moment it happened. The visual aid he returns to the most often as he does now while heading out to the Watergate, is that of Deep Throat dying in her arms. But if he wants to be honest, he believes it happened before that. It's an unsettling feeling to not be alone, and he doesn't have a handle on it. ***** "Mulder, it's Scully. Dana Scully. Do you know where you are?" Arecibo. She's here. He tells her they were here. There is a cool sensation to his forehead as her hand grazes it. How can her hand be cool in this heat? A shit storm follows and through it all he remembers her touch as though it occurred many years ago. ***** The tape is blank. He, however, has experienced a revival. The daily nothingness that he'd been exiled to has gone. She is sitting next to him and trying to explain what happened, but a blank tape is a blank tape. Despite that, he's not feeling terrible. Something has changed in the aftermath of their Costa Rican holiday. "You still have nothing." Not true. - end -
