He did not understand what he was doing there or how he had arrived. It was darker than the darkness in his previous house, literally and metaphorically. A little sheaf of light was escaping from somewhere, but he could not recognize the origin. He felt scared, anxious, with butterflies in his belly and a constant nausea. Was he sick again? No. What he was feeling was because of his nervousness. His mother used to call it heebie jeebies, or in his case, energy sickness. Actually, he did not remember feeling so well lately. That horrible pain in his body had dissipated, his hearing was normal again and he was able to get on his feet without any problem. Only to proove his present condition he started wandering through the place. It was difficult to see where he was going but he trusted in his instincts. In fact, it was his instincts that had brought him here. Suddenly he started to remember. Several pictures of his life ran by his eyes. Darkness, a bright light, his mother's face, his father's smell, cold, warm, his first steps, his first home, his sister, his second home, loneliness, his new job, his co-works, his new partner, his best friend, his SCULLY! Scully, Scully, Scully, this last picture was stuck in his mind like a broken movie camera in its last image. That name was echoing in his head like a scream inside a caver. Where was Scully? Was she Ok? Was I able to help her? Did I accomplish my goal? The nausea and the scary feeling were increasing and when he finally felt he was on the verge of passing out, the light, that little sheaf of light started to expand and his body started to ache. He could hear other sounds now, sounds that he had not been able to hear before: medical machines, someone saying "It is going to be alright", more voices, crying, plead for someone to be well, for him to open his eyes. After a few seconds of struggle he finally opened his eyes and was able to see the only face that mattered to him, the face that had been stuck with him since the beginning. Scully! She was fine, though the tears falling on her face. He had done the right thing. He had fulfilled his role. He had saved his best friend's life, his lover's life. Scully was all right and from the beautiful smile on her face he knew he would be all right, too. Using the last strength in his body he did what he wanted to do since he woke up in that dark place, he whispered his favorite greeting - "Hey, Doc."
